    Hey, for his age he seems to be in pretty good shape.  How is Arnold now, late 60s?

    Guy had some heart problems though.  I've been thinking a lot about that and how I can diffuse any such time bomb building up in me.

    I'm still overweight, but I'm on a mission to correct it.  I'm sticking to a strict low calorie diet with lots of water, vinegar, and fruit so I will reach my target weight before I go overseas again this Summer.  Being pudgy is a big black mark in the negative column in Asia.

    Alcohol is out too, til I reach my normal weight.

    Once you get used to it it's not so bad.  In fact you feel better overall despite some mild discomfort of hunger.  But overeating damn sure you makes you feel worse.

    And it's so easy to do cuz your brain keeps justifying little diet cheats until you think you're reasonably but in reality are consuming 2800 calories a day and blimping out and wondering why.

    It's a minefield of slippery slopes out there, which for me is mostly made of tacos, pasta, and chinese takeout.

    Fruit and greek yogurt smoothies are F-ing awesome. I toss like half a banana, some watermelon, a strawberry, grapes, whatevs in the blender with a little unsweetened juice and a few tablespoons of greek yogurt.

    What comes out of there is ambrosia.

    I think arnie is 68. Maybe that's not the most recent pic. I think he may be in better shape now.

    He probably had heart problems because the steroids caught up to him.

    Your smoothie is shit. Waaaaaaaaay too much sugar.

    And low-calorie diet is shit because you're depriving yourself of valuable nutrients.

    Just keep BAD CARBS....like pasta and pizza....to a very strict limit.

    And get more active.

    Numbnuts, there's no added sugar in the Greek yogurt. Some healthy fructose from the fruit, along with fibre and micronutrients. Superhealthy, and just around 100 calories.

    you have like 3-4 fruits in the same smoothie?

    i think it's too much sugar in one sitting and will wreak havoc on blood sugar levels.

    no respectable nutrition guru advocates fruit smoothies to lose weight long-term sustainably.

    but do whatever you like.

    I put half a banana, one strawberry, 5 grapes, and a couple chunks of watermelon in it -along with a whole heaping spoonful of yogurt. Is that F-ing OK with you?

    It comes to about 100 calories FFS, and it replaces an entire meal.

    It's probably equivalent in sugar to 1/4 of a reeses peanut butter cup.   Rolling Eyes

    AND it's the healthy sugar, not sucrose or corn syrup.

    Fruit is GOOD for you, you fkn numbnuts.

    No, fruit also wreaks havoc on blood sugar levels.

    And fruit does not replace a meal.

    Yeah, compare my 100 calorie yogurt smoothie, which contains not just carbs (fructose) but fats and proteins as well, to the TURD SANDWICH you ate for lunch today.

    Without even going into the nutritional content of the TURD, those two slices of bread contain 160 calories of low nutrition carbs.

    14 grams fat
    12 grams carbohydrate
    16 grams protein

    No fukin' WAY (NFW) 1 measly tablespoon of that slop has 16 grams of protein.

    Anyway 16 grams don't cut it.

    I estimate that I need 100 grams of protein a day, or maybe 80 or something something.

    But 16 is for pussies.

    And.... today was my CHEAT day motherfucker.

    Ever heard of a CHEAT day?

    And and and... I went for a JOG for 1 freakin hour.

    When is the last time you got off your fat lazy ass and jogged?

    Anyway I personally wouldn't use a fruit smoothie to replace a meal, but I will refrain from giving out nutritional advice because I'm not in the best shape.

    Right now, I am experimenting with new diets and I still have to experiment to see what works and what doesn't.

    Calorie restriction will work. But not sure if it has negative effects and how long can you sustain it.

    Anyway, I'm done talking about this.

    And one more thing:

    My opinion might be biased against your fruit smoothie because I'm experimenting with 2 meals a day.

    The first meal is pretty big since I haven't eaten since the previous evening and it has to keep me full all day. So that means it has to be very high protein. Fruit doesn't fill you up much so I don't consider it as part of a meal, but rather a snack.

    But again, there might be different approaches one can take and your might be perfectly valid.

    Sorry for being a total ahole. I guess you bring out the ahole in me.

    These are very small servings of fruit.  That means I'm still in the range of 2-3 servings of fruit per day with the smoothies.  No, it's not getting my protein requirements, but as you can see greek yogurt is high in protein. Not particularly filling, but very satisfying to the pallet.

    I replace two meals, breakfast and dinner, with the low calorie, LOW SUGAR, smoothies.  I also east a 400  calorie meal for lunch, comprised of one egg (86 calories), I can of tuna in water (90) calories, assorted vegetables (50 cal max), garlic and spices (neglibible) and thickened into a soup with chia seeds (200 calories).  Chia seeds are high in Omega 3 fats, fiber, and protein.  They are also very filling.  That 400 calorie meal is very satiating.

    A middle aged male needs 2300 calories a day to maintain normal weight. It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to burn one pound of body fat. So with this nutritious but calorie restrictive diet, I should drop 2-3 pounds per week. It's all a matter of sticking with it.

    It's a good diet, and it's working.  For me there can be NO cheat days, because my entire diet is based around avoiding slippery slopes.  I might blow it for a day eventually, like meeting a friend or family member for a meal at a restaurant, but other than that there are no cheats allowed.  No cheating, for me, is the key to it all, cuz once I shove some pizza in mouth, it's all downhill from there.

    No.  I work out on a machine a little everyday, but no jogging.  I'm also avoiding biking and walking, because  I know myself and what I'll end up doing is jogging/walking/biking straight to the liquor store.  Your runs are good though, probably burning an additional 500+ calories a day, which means you can either indulge a little more than me or lose the weight faster.  The scale will let you know if your diet is working.

    An ounce of vodka contains 64 calories (that metabolizes into pure sugar.)  There are 25 ounces in a fifth, which comes to 1600 calories.  And I usually drink more than a 1/5th.  So liquor is out.   Sad  Sad  Sad  Sad  Sad

    Plus, once I'm drunk I'm liable to eat a huge bowl of popcorn with half a stick of butter melted over it or a big plate of pasta alfredo or start cramming cheeseburger after cheeseburger down my maw.  And/or I'll be so wrecked after the drinking, I won't care about the diet and just eat whatever.

    I don't believe in diets because they cannot be sustained indefinitely.

    So I'm experimenting with incorporating junk food.

    If I can eat pizza, ice cream, some cake, and popcorn, chips, and beer each week and still be reasonably slim, that's good enough for me.

    Otherwise, it's ridiculous to deprive yourself because eventually you'll snap and wake up in a cold sweat at 3 am dreaming of domino's.

    And I'd be careful with tuna. It might be a fish relatively high in mercury and not a good idea to eat it on a regular basis.
