Are you f-ing kidding me? That story was *years* ago.

You truly are chronologically challenged. Rolling Eyes

where do you get your cajones talking to me like that?

do you have any fucking clue who you're fucking with?

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the TRUE emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

That was a funny story. I did a lot of acting in China, but I was never that stupid.

    They were probably Russians.

It was funny as they were paid less than the westerners on the sets, as extras. Even lessor roles than the Africans.

One time going home from the set they kind of rioted on the bus, due to low pay.

yeah, but hollywood films secure permits before doing anything on the streets.

    especially if costumes are involved.

these people of course didn't want to pay for permits, so the cops weren't aware.

try doing a hollywood-like stunt with (fake) guns on the street and the cops will gun you down.

in Beijing they banned halloween costumes being worn on Halloween -for purposes of maintaining public order.

And of course we had the "100 Day Anti-Foreigner Crackdown" in 2011-2012, on account of one drunk Brit.

It all more xenophobia than anything else.  I bet if those spartans had all been chinese they'd have gotten a pass.... or at least an international news story wouldn't have been made about it.

    Foreign devils.

Pi is the only one still there?

    How bad is it Pi?

I reckon I got it just right, 2001 until about 2008, a couple more years to kill the desire totally.

Time in China is like a relationship.

I don't miss it, as I killed it in my mind emotionally.

I miss Hong Kong though, and want to take a look at Taiwan.

Set up in Taiwan, Sciency, and I'll definitely visit you.

A place where they speak Chinese, has awesome surf, and climate, and free-er than the mainland.

Having said that, a mate of mine has just landed in Beijing, teaching young kids in a private school (the worst case scenario), 4 months, he LOVES it.

    I left China.

I interviewed for a place in Taiwan a year ago. The guy was asking a shitload of personal questions. It could be that they were a born-again Christian place and he was trying to find out if I was Christian without being too direct. Not sure.

It's tropical, with beaches... NO CONTEST with Beijing. How anyone can prefer a concrete jungle to a place that's close to beaches is beyond me. Taipei also has a lot of good nightlife and restaurants and cafe culture. Actually, they even have cat cafes, which I thought only existed in Japan.

Taiwan is probably a lot like Hong Kong, but a lot cheaper.

I got the funniest email job offer from this Taiwan, dude.  It'd be hard to find cuz it was a few months back, but he basically ranted on and on about foreigners in the job offer, really lame shit too like "oh we don't like foreigner that always need help find apartment when he come to work for our school."  "Foreigner clothes too baggy, why always like that?"  "We don't rike foreigner smoke...." like chinese don't smoke like chimneys.  And a bunch of other shit.  BUT.... but but, he despelatery needed FTs so veally much, and a-so prease-a-coma to a Taiwran anda worka flo us.

I can just imagine how many FTs his agency goes through... and why.
